BJP reiterates Aug 25 deadline, threatens to launch agitation | CU issue snowballs | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Aug 8: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLAs have reiterated final deadline of August 25 set by party for central and state government to make central university in Jammu functional failing which the party has threatened of launching an agitation. Addressing a press conference at party headquarters on Monday, BJP Legislator Party leader Jugal Kishore Sharma alongwith MLAs Choudhary Sukhnandan and Shyam Choudhary said that ups and downs in setting up Central University in Jammu without any doubt bring out bias and discriminatory attitude of both the central as well as state government toward Jammu region. He said that having promised Central University for Jammu region, government instead established a Central University in Kashmir. Jugal Kishore Sharma further added that discrimination and bias against Jammu region on the part of state and central government is general and all pervasive and extends to every action of the government. Be it the road-connectivity, setting up of colleges, electrification of the villages, employment percentage in government jobs, Jammu region has always been discriminated. He cited the instance of appointment of VC for the said University. Government in no time appointed VC for CU in Kashmir while as for Jammu’s CU, the issue of appointment of VC has been allowed to become controversial. Sharma said that the BJP will not allow the state and central government to play with the career and the aspirations of the people of Jammu region, especially its youth. He said that should the government fail to take immediate steps in the establishment of Central University in Jammu, it shall launch very vigorous and strong people’s movement against the centre as well as state government.
