Accelerate execution of Jammu convention complex: LC panel | | | Early Times Report SRINAGAR, Aug 8: Taking serious note over the delayed completion of Convention Complex at Jammu, the Departmental Related Committee (DRC) of Legislative Council headed by B. R. Kundal today directed the Hospitality and Protocol department to accelerate execution on the prestigious project forthwith. The Committee with its Members Bashir Ahmad Magray, Nizamudin Khatana and Mohammad Ashraf Mir, which met here discussed in detail the working of the Hospitality and Protocol department. Committee asked the department to ensure proper upkeep and maintenance of Kashmir House at New Delhi, noting with concern its poor maintenance presently. It said the surroundings of the complex should be properly spruced up ensuring cleanliness and beautiful aura. Regarding the property located outside the State especially at Amritsar, Pathankote, Chandigarh and Sirsa Haryana, the Committee suggested holding high level meeting with the concerned departments to be chaired by Chief Secretary for resolution of disputes to safeguard the assets belonging to Jammu and Kashmir. The Committee called for speeding up the recruitment process to fill up vacant posts of the department. It also suggested for creation of two new blocks one each at Jammu and Srinagar to facilitate the VVIPs and other dignitaries. Secretary, Legislative Council Mohammad Ashraf Mir, Special Secretary Zaffar Ahmad Bhat, Director, H & P S. S. Jamwal and other concerned officers of Council Secretariat and H & P department attended the meeting.
