PAC seeks info on newly opened, upgraded schools | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT SRINAGAR, Aug 8;
Public Accounts Committee (PAC) of Legislative Assembly on Monday sought up-to-date information about the newly opened and upgraded schools. It also called for official record to ascertain total number of model schools along with cumulative expenditure incurred thereon. The Committee, which met here under the Chairmanship of Mir Saifullah expressed dissatisfaction over the reply submitted by the education department. The Chairman directed the education authorities to furnish information about the learning centres and number of teachers trained, status of KGBVs, etc. After threadbare discussion, the Committee, however, dropped CAGs audit para pertaining to mid-day meals schemes run by the Education department. Legislators, Vikar Rasool Wani, Syeed Baasharat Ahmad Bukhari, Peer Mansood Hussain, Nazir Ahmad Gurezi, Ashraf Ganie, Abdul Gaffer Sofi and Jagdish Raj Sapolia gave their suggestions for further improvement in the education system. Commissioner Secretary Education, Naseem Lanker, Deputy Accountant Generals, AG’s office, Director General Accounts and Treasury, Director School Education Kashmir, Director School Education, Jammu, Projector Director SSA, Senior Officers of Assembly Secretariat and all Chief Education Officers attended the meeting.
