Parveez’s 87 guides President XI Blues to 35 runs win

SRINAGAR, August 08: Splendid innings of 87 runs by young Parveez Rasool today helped President XI Blues to comfortable 35 runs win over Treasurer XI Reds in the R C Tickoo Memorial Cricket Tournament underway at Sher-e-Kashmir Cricket Stadium, here.
First class cricketer, Parveez took just 71 balls to make 87 runs after President XI won the toss and decided to bat first. In the allotted 40 overs, President XI made 222 runs for the loss of eight wickets.
Besides Parveez, Fayaz Hazari also played well contributing 43 runs while Huwaid Ronga added 22 runs to the team’s total. From Treasurer XI, V Singh was most successful bowler with four for 49 in eight overs. Dilawar Singh, Shashi Kumar, Raman Dutta and Bandeep Singh shared apiece each.
Batting second, Treasurer XI bowled out for 187 runs in 37.1 overs thereby lost the match by 35 runs. Shashi Kumar played impressive innings of 70 runs coming off 77 deliveries while Jaswinder and Guru Partap Singh contributed 37 and 25 runs respectively.
From President XI, Waseem Marza clinched three wickets while Abid Nabi and Sami-ullah Beig shared two each.
Meanwhile, according to the organizers, Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA), the President XI Reds shall take on General Secretary XI Blues in the first semi-final tomorrow at the same venue.

HC stays transfer of teacher r
Jammu, August-08 (JNF):- The High Court today stayed transfer of a teacher who happens to be a relative of SDM Gandoh. In a petition filed by two teachers who were adjusted in Govt Middle School Assar purely on the security grounds because the petitioners are having threat perception in their local
area Marmat but the Farooq Ahmed Khan District Development Commissioner Doda just to confer undue benefit upon one Ajmal Sheikh who is relative of Shabir Ahmed Keen SDM Gandoh have passed the order issued by Zonal Education officer Assar Doda.
The petitioner’s apprehension is that he may be eliminated by the local commander of Hizbul Mujahideen namely Azad Hussain who is still active in Marmat Area.
Justice JP Singh stayed the order dated July 30, 2011 passed by ZEO Assar till next date. Court further directed that ZEO Assar shall permit petitioners at Middle School Boys and Middle School Girl Assar till next order. JNF
