PK expresses concern over delay in CU functioning | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Aug 8: Panun Kashmir (PK) has expressed serious concern over the alleged delaying tactic adopted by the central and the state government in the setting up of the Central University in Jammu and the appointment of its Vice Chancellor. Addressing a press conference, PK president Ashwani Kumar Chrungoo said that initially, such a university was supposed to be established in Jammu but the Kashmir centric state government driven by its discriminatory attitude towards Jammu region, made every effort to scuttle this move. “In view of the deliberate delay to appoint the VC for the prestigious university, PK has decided to support the agitation launched by various organizations”, he said. Speaking on the occasion, prof. M.L.Raina, Chairman, Political Affairs Committee said that the agitating students of the Jammu region have been forced by the callous attitude of the government to come to the streets and vent their strong feelings. “It is very unfortunate that brutal police force is being used to silence their rightful and genuine voice. This willful delay in conceding the genuine demands of the students have caused a negative impact on their academic session and also their career”, Raina said. He said that the demand of the people of Jammu to appoint a ‘son of the soil’ as the VC of the Central University is regarded by Panun Kashmir as genuine which it supports strongly and firmly. It is pertinent to note here that such precedence in the matter of appointments in Kashmir has already been established for the last several decades. Panun Kashmir had made an appeal to the Prime Minister to urgently intervene in the matter so that the genuine and rightful demand of the students is conceded without further loss of time.
