LC panel asks SSRB to expedite selection process

SRINAGAR, Aug 9: Subordinate Legislation Committee (SLC) of Legislative Council headed by Bashir Ahmad Magray on Tuesday directed the Chairman, Service Selection Recruitment Board (SSRB) B. D. Bhagat to get the court stay vacated so that the selection lists could be issued.
The Committee with its Members Sheikh Gulam Rasool, Sheikh Gulam Qadir Pardesi, Nizamu-ud-Din Khatana, Ali Mohammad Bhat and Dr. Bashir Ahmad Shah (Veeri), which met here discussed and review the functioning of SSRB in light of rules framed for the J&K Civil Services Decentralization Recruitment Act, 2011.
The Committee called for amendment of recruitment rules up-to-date and suggested to make these rules employees friendly. Committee recommended establishment of office complex for SSRB at Srinagar and Jammu.
Committee asked Commissioner/Secretary, General Administration Department Mohammad Sayeed Khan to issue instructions to all departments to refer all vacancies to SSRB well in time to get prompt relief to unemployed educated youth. Committee desired that every department should have a Departmental Promotion Committee (DPC).
The Chairman, SSRB informed the meeting that the board is making selection of suitable candidates strictly on merit basis as per the laid down criterion. He said as soon as stay is vacated, the selection list of 6000 posts of different categories like teachers and accounts assistants whose interviews have already been made would be issued.
Secretary, GAD informed the meeting that promotion orders against clear vacancies in different categories in the Secretariat cadre are being issued well in time. He said GAD will issue a Performa of APRs to concern in the month of April every year in advance to avoid delaying in submitting of APRs etc. Special Secretary, GAD G. S. Chib, Secretary SSRB Aman Din and other concerned officers of Council Secretariat attended the meeting.
