| I-Day, Machail Yatra arrangements finalized | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
KISHTWAR, Aug 9: District Development Commissioner, Kishtwar Mohammad Hussain Malik convened a meeting of District officers and the Management Committee of the Mata Chandi Machail (Paddar) to finalize the arrangements for Independence Day celebrations and the annual Machail Yatra.
Among others, Superintendent Police Bhim Sen, ADC Gulam Nabi Balwan, officers from CRPF, district officers, representatives of Chandi Mata Committee and field functionaries of the concerned departments attended the meeting.
Regarding the Independence Day celebration, the meeting was informed that the main function shall be organized in the Chowgan grounds as per past practice where the VIP shall hoist the flag and take salute at the march-past in which 23 contingents of Police, JKAP, CRPF,
Forest, Protection Police, NCC cadets and students of schools will take part. A cultural program shall also be presented on the occasion by various cultural troops of the town.
The meeting also took decisions on other related arrangements for Independence Day and Annual Machail Yatra which included power supply, provision for drinking water, beefed security arrangements for both events, provision for transport and accommodation for the Machail pilgrims in the town and at the halting stations, supply of ration items, sanitation arrangements by the Municipality, provision for medicare for the yatries enroute to Machail and back fire fighting system availability, illumination of government building by the PDD in the town on Independence Day. Addressing the meeting, DDC asked the line department officers to ensure their active role in discharging the entrusted duties on both the events.
