Vimarsh’s century guides President XI Reds to final | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT SRINAGAR, August 09: A sparkling century by Vimrash Kal dashed the General Secretary XI Blues hopes and reached the final of the ongoing R C Tikoo Memorial Cricket Tournament, organised by Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Assocaition (JKCA) at Sher-e-Kashmir Cricket Stadium, here today. In the first semi-final, President Reds trounced Secretary Blues by eight wickets. Vimrash’s ton along with Dhruv Mahajan’s 58-ball 69 runs tormented the opposition bowlers and smashed them to every corner of the park, which helped President Reds to cruise to a comfortable eight wicket win. Earlier, batting first, General Secretary Blues posted 203 for the loss of eight wickets in the allotted 40 overs. Imtiyaz top scored and played an entertaining 62 ball 65 innings while Rouf Basit finished the proceedings with a well made 46. From President Reds, Dhruv Mahajan claimed three wickets conceding 45 runs and Ram Dayal scalped two for 21 runs. Later, chasing the target, President Reds sailed to victory in 35 overs losing just two wickets. The swashbuckling of Vimrash and Dhruv made it easy for President Reds to secure a berth in the final. For General Secretary Blues, Umar Aalam took two wickets, giving away 37 runs. Now, the winner shall lock horns for the title with the winner of the second semi-final, which will take place between Chairman Blues and President Blues.
