JAMMU, August 09: The opening day witnessed a hectic schedule as near 100 matches played in the 26th Jammu District Badminton Championship, organised by Jammu City and District Badminton Association at Indoor Complex, MA Stadium, here today.
First and second round matches were played in the sub-junior groups of boys and girls on the three courts of the indoor complex today. As per the organizers, the third and fourth rounds of pre-quarterfinals and quarterfinals have been scheduled for second day tomorrow.
In this four-day event, competition in senior and veteran groups may also take place tomorrow evening.
Earlier, the championship was declared open by Inspector General of Police (IGP) Jammu, Dilbag Singh, who was introduced with the participants by the organizing committee members.
Among others present were office bearers of the district and state badminton associations as also other senior players.
