| JMC sets new norms for the upkeep of sanitation | | |
JAMMU | NOV 30 The Department of Public Health and Sanitation Committee of Jammu Municipal Corporation has taken several decisions regarding routine sanitation of the city as well as to curb the menace of encroachment, in a general body meeting held here today. While speaking on the occasion, Chairman Public Health and Sanitation Committee, Vijay Malhotra said that in accordance with the newly framed laws every Rehri Wallahs will have to pay Rs 5 per month to the department as rent so as to abolish the Pheri system that occupies land causing great nuisance to the vehicle operators. He also exhorted that, under the newly framed law Rs 25 will be charged by the department from every household for the maintenance of cleanliness in the city. He further added that special focus would be laid upon vacating the garbage from the localities and number of vehicles would be added to carry the garbage out of city, with out creating heaps of garbage lying open in the localities. Others who attended the meeting include, Health Officer KD Singh Samyal, Transport inspector Shiv Kumar, member Public Health and Sanitation and corporator Ward number 11, Sanjay Mahey. Among the prominent ward members who attended the meeting were Satish Sharma, Surinder, and Jaswant Singh etc.
