Appointment of Bloeria as VC CUJ widely hailed by Jammuites

JAMMU, Aug 9:

Several political and non-political organisations have hailed the appointment of Sudhir S Bloeria as first Vice Chancellor of Central University Jammu (CUJ).
Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee has welcomed the appointment of Shri S S Bloeria has the first Vice Chancellor of Central University Jammu.
In a joint statement senior leaders of the party have said that the rich experience of Bloeria in different capacities will benefit the new and prestigious institution of Central University.
Party thanked the Central Government for the appointment of new Vice Chancellor in order to make the University functional.
Signatories to the statement include Dharm Pal Sharma, Amrit Malhotra-MLC (Sr. Vice Presidents PCC; Hari Singh, Yash Pal Khajuria, S. Gurmukh Singh, Prem Sagar Aziz (Vice Presidents PCC); General Secretary & Spokesperson PCC Ravinder Sharma-MLC, Mula Ram-Ex-Minister and President INTUC Shiv Kumar Sharma.
Meanwhile, agitation launched by National Panther Students Union (NPSU) for CUJ was called off today after getting the conformation of the appointment of SS Balloria as its first Vice Chancellor.
Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has also hailed appointment of Dr S S Beloria as first Vice Chancellor of Jammu Central University.
In a joint statement issued here today, PDP leaders hoped that with the appointment of Dr Beloria functioning of the Jammu Central University would be started and students of state in general and Jammu region in particular would take benefit of this coming up prestigious institute in this region. They urged upon the new Vice Chancellor to make the University functional as early as possible.
PDP leaders said that Dr Beloria is an efficient administration and has vast experiences. They said that it was during the Mufti Mohammad Sayed that Dr Beloria was made Chief Secretary of the state and it was first time that an officer from Jammu region was made Chief Secretary of the State.
The joint statement was issued by Trilok Singh Bajwa, Ved Mahajan, Shanti Devi, Daman Bhasin and others.
NPSU, who had raised a banner of revolt for the early opening of CUJ and various colleges of Jammu province were boycotted under the banner of NPSU.
To celebrate the victory for CUJ, NPSU organized a function at Shaheedi Sthal at GGM Sc. College, Jammu where Harsh Dev Singh (MLA and Working Chairman Jammu Kashmir National Panthers Party) was the chief guest and Yash Pal Kundal (MLA & State Gen Secy JKNPP) was the guest of honour.
Juice was offered by Harsh Dev Singh and Yash Pal Kundal to the fasting students who were sitting on the relay hunger strike.
Students from various city colleges came to Shaheedi Sthal to participate in the victory ceremony organized by NPSU.
Students were dancing on the beat of drums and also were sprinkling the colours on each other. Students even did not spare chief gust and guest of honour and applied colors to them, the atmosphere was not less than a Holi festival.
Speaking on the occasion Harsh Dev Singh congratulated the student community for the success in the establishment of CUJ and said that full credit should go to them who initiated the movement for CUJ and forced state as well as center govt. to appoint a local VC for CUJ after the struggle of more than 40 days.
On the occasion Yash Pal Kundal also congratulated the students’ community and appealed them to be united in future also to fight for the cause of Jammu region.
Speaking on the occasion Pushvinder Singh Manhas (State Sr. Vice President YP & Incharge NPSU) thanked student community for their valuable support for the establishment of CUJ and also thanked all the political, non-political and social organizations for supporting the cause led by NPSU. He said that the struggle is not over yet and we have to be vigilant until and unless the session of CUJ gets started. He also coagulated the people of Jammu region for this huge victory.
The reports said that the students of Government Degree College (GDC) Kathua, GDC Samba, GDC Akhnoor, GDC Udhampur and GDC Ramnagar also celebrated the victory of the students over the government.
Jammu Kashmir Tribal United (TUF) in a meeting held here today under the chairmanship of its president, Roshan Din Choudhary, also hailed the appointment of Dr Sudhir S Bloeria as first VC of CUJ.
Welcoming this decision of Govt, Roshan Din Choudhary congratulated Dr. Bloeria for being appointed as first Vice Chancellor of Jammu Central University. He further said that although the functioning of Jammu Central University is already delayed by about two years but with the appointment of Dr. Bloeria as its Vice Chancellor, the fate of JCU would be bright in years to come.
Panun Kashmir, was also upbeat over the decision of government to appoint Bloeria as VC CUJ as it termed the appointment as the victory of Jammu people, who fought a persistent struggle against the discrimination and denial of their rights by the powers at state as well as the centre.
The role of JPPF in giving a lead to the people of Jammu in their struggle is a matter of great pride and admiration. The students and people from different walks of life of Jammu remained steadfast in their resolve to bring Central University in function.
Jammu State Morcha (P) in a meeting held under the chairmanship of its president, Prof. Virender Gupta has welcomed the appointment of Dr. S.S. Baloria as the first Vice Chancellor of Jammu Central University and expressed its confidence that the University would develop and progress with a rapid pace under his multifaceted personality having longstanding administrative experience and academic acumen. JSM hopes that the studies in some of the disciplines shall start from this year and immediate efforts in this direction be made.
JSM congratulated the people of Jammu region, the social and political organizations and in particular the students community who united and vigorously fought the battle in the last about two years first for opening of Jammu Central University and then for appointment of the first Vice Chancellor while coming across the hurdles put by the vested quarters and the Kashmiri leadership.
Among others who were present in the meeting were H.B.Khajuria, Brig. Anil Gupta, Chandra Uday Sharma, Nathu Ram Gupta, Surjeet Singh, Prof. Divender Sharma, Rajesh Sharma, Vishav Bhandu Gupta, V.D Dogra, Rajinder Gupta, and Lokesh Gupta.
