JMC conducts anti-encroachment drive in Nai Basti, Gandhi Nagar | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Aug 9: Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) continued its anti-encroachment drive to clear the footpaths / pavements parts of roadsides in different parts of the city. The Chief Enforcement Officer JMC subordinate staff along with Police force led by Station House Officer from Gandhi Nagar Police Station and from District Police Lines undertook an extensive drive in the areas of Nai Basti, Gandhi Nagar and seized 6 truck loads of material / goods / articles including Washing Machine, Refrigerator, Racks, Beds, Tables, Tubs, Grain Storage Drums, Steels Bins, Milk Cans, Frames, Footwears, Crates, Cycles, Benches, Chairs, Tarpaulin, Seat Cushions etc., which were kept by the shopkeepers / vendors by encroaching upon footpaths / pavements / road sides etc. The team also demolished 5 encroachments found erected upon footpaths / pavements which were causing inconvenience to the pedestrians and also creating obstruction in the free movement of vehicular traffic. During the drive the encroachers tried to sabotage it but with the timely action and presence of adequate Police Force the encorachers were not successful. Any attempt or anybody tries to obstract anti encroachment drive in the city will lead to contempt of Court in the Writ Petition All J&K Taxi Sumo Association V/s State of J&K and Ors.
