Rly employees hold protest against dilapidated condition of flats | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Aug 9: A convention of Railway employees, under the banner of All India Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes Railway Employees Association, was held at the Railway East Colony, here on Wednesday in protest against the alleged dilapidated condition of the accommodation provided to them. Raising slogans against the railway administration, the residents of Railway East Colony said that they were living in quarters putting their life at risk as the roofs and walls of the quarters are outdated and required repair. They further alleged that the water supply provided to them is contaminated and many of them are suffering with the water born diseases. They alleged that the safety tank which was constructed in 1972 also need repair. The protest rally was headed by Tarsem Khullar of Ferozpur, branch president Chander Ban and branch secretary Ashok Bhagat. Earlier, a protest was also held by the employees at railway washing point demanding ‘No to Privatization of Train Washing’. The tender in this connection has been floated recently by the railway authorities.
