Guv, first lady fill up enrolment forms, complete formalities | Unique Identification ‘Aadhaar’ Card | | Early Times Report SRINAGAR, Aug 10: The process for preparation of Unique Identification ‘Aadhaar’ Cards commenced at the Governor’s Secretariat, Raj Bhavan here today with Governor N. N. Vohra and first lady Usha Vohra filling up enrolment forms, recording their finger prints and completing other required formalities. The process for issuance of Unique Identification ‘Aadhaar’ Card was undertaken by a team of senior officers headed by Secretary, Information Technology M. K. Dwivedi, President, Jammu and Kashmir Bank G. M. Sahibzada which has been designated as Registrar in the state for implementation of Unique Identification Project, and senior officers of the information technology department and the bank. Speaking on the occasion, the Governor observed that, initially, it was his impression that Identification Cards would be prepared in pursuance with recently concluded Census Operation in the state. On being briefed by Dwivedi about UID Project, Governor emphasized usefulness of this entire process if completed within a fixed time schedule. He was informed that the Unique Identification ‘Aadhaar’ Card would be useful for the people availing various services. Governor observed that coordinated action should be taken to ensure that this Card becomes useful for delivering benefits under MGNREGA and Old Age Pension Scheme among other programmes and also leads to promoting banking habits among the rural population. Briefing the Governor, Dwivedi said that the project is likely to be completed in the State in three years. He said that the photo, finger prints, etc. of the beneficiary, along with other data, would be sent to the UIDAI for providing the ‘Aadhaar’ Card. R. K. Goyal, Principal Secretary to the Governor was present on the occasion.
