J&K minister praises Kashmiri people for safeguarding minorities | | | Early Times Report SRINAGAR, Aug 10: Minister for Revenue Raman Bhalla today praised people of the state for safeguarding minorities in every region, saying Jammu and Kashmir has been torchbearer in practicing great values of pluralistic culture. Minister who was on a day long extensive tour of hill district Shopian was address a large gathering of pilgrims at Nagbal-Digam on the anniversary of Tirth Raj Kapal Mochan. Minister said that Government is committed to protect the properties of Kashmiri migrants. He said that long term and short term plans initiated to rehabilitate migrants are progressing speedily, adding residential flats are coming up at different parts of valley and a good number of employees who joined here are residing in these flats. Bhalla said UPA Chairperson, Sonia Gandhi and Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh are keen to strengthen age old brotherhood of Kashmiri Hindu and Muslims. He said all damaged temples and shrines would be reconstructed as a confidence building measure. Minister appreciated participation of the Muslims in the Mela and said that it is because of congenial atmosphere created by Kashmiri Muslims that the Plan for rehabilitation of migrants got a success. Responding to the demands of migrants and local people, the Minister assured that their demands would be looked into favorably. He said that developmental project taken up by tourism department for beautification of Shrine area would be speeded up and the land which had been used for the construction of school building would be compensated.
