Akanksha becomes J&K’s first woman ISS | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Aug 10: Akanksha Aggarwal daughter of Rakesh Aggarwal has brought laurels to the state as well as to Department of Statistics in University of Jammu by qualifying prestigious Indian Statistical Service examination conducted by the UPSC. To felicitate her, today the Department of Statistics organized a function and honored her for succeeding in the National Examination and for her maiden achievement. On this occasion, Prof J P Singh Joorel, Head of the Department appreciated the efforts of Akanksha as she becomes the first woman to qualify ISS from the state and felt that with this milestone, others students especially females would be encouraged and motivated to compete at the highest levels. He also appealed to the young generation to pursue Statistics subject as it is of vital importance and has lot of job potential besides he requested state government to introduce and expand Statistics subject in more/new colleges. Dr Rahul Gupta, Associate Professor also addressing and highlighted the importance of ISS, in general and subject of Statistics, in particular for its contribution to various developments in different fields and its role in the planning process of the country.
