Army Chief reviews security along LOC in Poonch, Rajouri | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Aug 10: In the backdrop of rising infiltration attempts from across the border vis-à-vis major encounters taking place in the recent past, Chief of Army Staff General V K Singh today arrived on a two-day visit to review security along the Line of Control in the bordering Poonch and Rajouri districts of Jammu region. "Gen Singh arrived this morning at 16 Core Nagrota and after meeting with the senior army officers, he flew to the bordering Rajouri and Poonch belts of the region," official spokesman said. He said that Army Chief would review security arrangement along the LOC. "He would be staying tonight in this winter capital and would fly back to the national capital tomorrow," the spokesman added. An insane man was also killed on Sunday in a ‘fake’ encounter by the Special Police Officer and a jawan of Territorial Army in the Surankote area of Poonch district. Defence Minister A K Antony, however, had also asked the Army to submit a detailed report on alleged ‘fake’ encounter.
