HC dismisses Panditpori’s petition against Er Rasheed | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Srinagar, Aug 10 (KNS): The High Court on Wednesday dismissed the petition filed by Peoples Democratic Party leader Mohammad Sultan Panditpori against MLA Langate Engineer Rasheed. Panditpori had filed a petition before the HC pleading that Rasheed was working as deputy general manager in J&K Projects Construction Corporation on December 25, 2008 when the results of Assembly elections were declared and Rasheed was declared successful. He had filed the petition against Rasheed, Election Commission of India and officials of JKPCC. In his petition, Panditpori had pleaded that Rasheed had not resigned from his job when he filed his nomination papers to contest the elections. However, the defence lawyer pleaded before the court that his client had already resigned from his job and the JKPCC had issued a NOC also in this regard. He pleaded before the court that Rasheed had resigned from the job on November 8, 2008 before filing his nomination papers. Justice Mansoor Ahmad Mir after hearing the arguments of both the parties dismissed Panditpori’s petition.
