| I-Day arrangements reviewed at Udhampur | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
UDHAMPUR, Aug 10: Additional Deputy Commissioner, Udhampur, Rajinder Singh today chaired a meeting of officers of different departments to review the arrangements for the celebration of Independence Day at Udhampur.
It was decided in the meeting that the main function would be held in the premises of PG College for Boys ground where the VIP would unfurl the National flag followed by march past by the contingents drawn from District Police, SKPA, Forest Protection Force, NCC and students of various schools. The school children would also present cultural programmes depicting rich cultural heritage of the country.
Threadbare discussions were also held regarding arrangements of seating, barricading, security, traffic regulation, drinking water and power supply, sanitation, first-aid, deployment of buses and fire-tenders etc.
The ADC directed the engineers of R&B, PHE and PDD to ensure effective arrangements of barricading, seating and drinking water, besides uninterrupted power supply on the day.
The Executive Officer, Municipality was asked for proper cleanliness of college ground and town well in advance and Chief Medical Officer for deployment of mobile van with staff and medicines at function’s site. District and Traffic Police would make security and traffic regulation on the day.
A committee of officers was also constituted to fix criteria for finalizing the list of outstanding students to be awarded on the National Day.
Important Government buildings would be illuminated in the evening on the auspicious day, the meeting decided.
The celebrations of the National Day would start with the playing of Shehnai Vadan by the District Information Centre, Udhampur in the wee hours of the day.
Speaking on the occasion, the ADC stressed upon the officers of various departments to celebrate the function with patriotic spirit, make close rapport and coordination between different agencies so that all arrangements required for the conduct of National function are ensured well in time. |
