Work with dedication, zeal: DCM to JMC men | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Aug 10: Deputy Chief Minister Tara Chand called upon work force of Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) to perform their duties with utmost dedication and zeal for extending all required facilities to the city inhabitants. He said mega- development projects have been launched to transform the city on modern lines and develop it into a mega city. Deputy Chief Minister said this while addressing marathon meeting of JMC, called to review physical and financial achievements of the corporation, here on Tuesday. Commissioner, Jammu Municipal Corporation A.K. Sawhney, Secretary, Joint Commissioner Works, Chief Revenue Officer, Chief Accounts Officer and other officers and officials of the corporation were present during the meeting. While reviewing performance of the enforcement wing, Tara Chand stressed that no violations would be allowed and directed the concerned officers to submit a status report on land use and violations, if any. Plan (CCDP), Integrated Housing and Slum Development Plan (IHSDP) and Basic Services for Urban Poor (BSUP) should be completed within stipulated time and work priority should be prepared well in time before undertaking new works. It was informed in the meeting that under BSUP, project of Leper colony at Bhagwati Nagar is coming up fast at a cost of Rupees One crore and Forty Three lakh, in which thirty six dwelling units would be constructed. Another project at Sunjwan worth Rs 14.24 crore is underway, for shifting Rajiv Nagar residents; the project once completed would have 608 dwelling units. In the project 256 units have already been completed up to roof level and work on another 80 units has been completed up to plinth level. Tara Chand said that it is prime duty of the corporation to ensure health and hygiene in the city and all those involved in maintaining it should gear up for their activities and perform their duties with missionary spirit. He said projects of using GPS technology in Bin tracking, land use violations and vehicle tracking would soon be launched. Detailed review of various UEED and town drainage projects was also done in the meeting. |
