10 day computer, internet workshop concludes

JAMMU, Aug 10: Ten day computer and Internet university grants sponsored workshop organized by Department of computer sciences of the Government College for Women (GCW) Parade in collaboration with digital matrix laboratories concluded here today.
Director Distance education Dr Meenakshi Kilam was Chief Guest and Principal of college Dr Kiran Bakshi presided over the function. Prof. Parveen Singh HOD computer sciences in his introductory note welcomed the chief guest, Principal, experts from digital matrix and other staff members. He told the students that in this era of information technology, “E” has become a buzzword and everything is revolving around “E” viz e-learning, e-governance, e-commerce, e-health and e-agriculture.
He stressed that world has become a small networked village where one can gain maximum advantage, but only criteria is one needs to have proper guidance and education. UGC Committee Convenor Dr. Shashi Koul said that to spread the knowledge of computers, college has started this workshop and hope that students must have taken the maximum benefit about it.
Speaking on the occasion, Principal Dr Kiran Bakshi congratulated the participants for successful completion of computer basic course and appreciated Computer science department for organizing such workshops. She said that college is organizing another two day UGC sponsored workshop on skill development which will be for whole college enabling students to enhance their skills.
Chief Guest of the function, Dr Meenakshi Kilam in her concluding note said that these type of workshops are very helpful to the students and is one of its kind for the students to get first hand information about computer basics apart from internet thus linking them to outside world. She appreciated efforts of organizing committee for taking initiative in organizing such type of knowledge enhancement and skill development workshops. Certificates were also distributed among the participants. Comparing was done by Swadha and Sugandha of BCA Third Year.
