Army distributes calves in border village | | | Early Times Report MENDHAR, Aug 10: Battalion under the aegis of BG Brigade distributed calves to poor people near the border village of Sabra today. The distribution was a part of Army’s overall effort to reach out to the poor especially those staying near the line of control. The ceremony which was marked by simplicity was attended by a large gathering of villagers from the border villages of Lanjot, Dehri, Basuni, Dharana, Sabra and Balakote. Beneficiaries thanked the army for the ‘Barkat’ in the holy month of Ramzan. They also hoped that in future, Army will continue to play a pivotal role in improving their living condition. Army has initiated numerous slips to benefit the people living near the line of control (LoC). During the function, villagers were thanked for bringing peace and prosperity in the border area. Mohammed Mahroof a villager from Dharri and a happy recipient of the calf, said that receiving the gift in the holy month of Ramadan makes it special. He said the people of Lanjot, Balakote and Sabra are poor farmer with very small land holdings. Their plight had become worse due to militancy and erection of fence along the LoC. The rearing of Milch cattle will definitely supplement their meager income.
