Peace must for accelerating development: Bhalla

SRINAGAR, Aug 11: Minister for Revenue Raman Bhalla Thursday called upon the people to maintain peace and communal harmony so that developmental process initiated by the coalition government reaches to its logical conclusion.
Minister was addressing a well attended public meeting at Badgam today. Minister said that State Government is working for the betterment and welfare of the State. He said various mega development projects and welfare schemes which include expansion of National Highway, construction of Mughal road, renovation of International Airport and other schemes like IAY, MGNREGA and NRHM are progressing speedily in all the three regions of the state.
“All these schemes are being funded by the union government,” he said adding that UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi and Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh are keen to see Jammu and Kashmir as a developed and prosperous state. Bhalla said liberal funding from the Centre and maintenance of congenial atmosphere here are two important factors for making J&K a prosperous state.
Minister said that government is fully aware of the problems being faced by the people especially unemployed youth and assured them that concerted efforts are being made to mitigate these. Bhalla urged people to strengthen the hands of coalition government by giving them proper support. He complimented people especially women folk for participating in the Panchayat election and urged them to play their role at their level.
Responding to the problems being projected by the locals, Minister assured them that every issue whether it belong to Revenue department Health, Irrigation or any other department will be looked into favorably. Bhalla directed district administrative and other functionary to further improve the service delivery system as people have high exceptions with the government.
Among others, who were present on the occasion include congress leader, Ghulam Nabi Monga, Farooq Ahmad Indrabi, Shafeeq Shabnam, Zahid Hussain Khan and Aga Syeed Mohsin.
