R&B told to fulfill assurances on time | | | Early Times Report SRINAGAR, Aug 11: Assurance Committee (A.C) of Legislative Council has called upon the Department of Roads and Buildings and other related agencies to implement government assurances given on the floor of the house from time to time in a time bound manner so that benefits of various projects percolate down to the needy. AC that met here today under the chairmanship of MLC Javed Ahmad Rana and discussed in detail the government assurances pertaining to the R&B Department, ERA, PMGSY, specifically in the context of CQ NO: 69 dated 16-3-2011 asked by G.Q. Pardesi and Calling Attention Notice by Javed Ahmad Rana. Members also sought feedback about the overall functioning of the ERA Projects and activities undertaken by the agency in the State. They suggested various measures to improve its functioning to make it more vibrant and accountable. He stressed on speeding up the pace of work and completing the projects in stipulated time frame. While briefing the Committee about the functioning of the ERA, Principal Secretary, R&B K.B.Aggarwal informed that the agency has undertaken 63 projects of different nature which included 51 in Kashmir Valley and 12 in Jammu division. Out of these 14 projects are at the final stage and likely to be completed during the current fiscal. He apprised that measures will be taken to speed up the ongoing projects. Those present in the meeting included, MLCs, M.Y.Taing, Asgar Ali, Mohammad Ashraf Mir, Chief Engineer, PMGSY, Kashmir Mushtaq Ahmed Lone, Chief Engineer, R&B Kashmir, Nazir Ahmed, Director, ERA Khalid Muzaffar, General Manager, JKPCC Ltd, Mohammad Yousuf, Deputy Secretary Council, Mohammad Maqbool and other officers.
