| NPSU holds protest against flooding of Canal road area | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Aug 11: National Panther students Union (NPSU) today held a protest demonstration against the water logging in GGM Science College, SPMR College of Commerce and areas adjacent to the two institutions.
Due to last night’s heavy rainfall, the areas near GGM Science College and SPMR College of Commerce got flooded with water as a result of which heavy loss is caused to the property of the people residing over there.
Besides, residential areas the classroom of colleges are also flooded with dirty water as a result of which the study of the students got affected
The angry students joined by the local people of the area under the banner of NPSU lamented the authorities for their callous approach towards the drainage system.
The protest was led by Partap Singh Jamwal (Provincial President NPSU) and Shiv Dev Singh (Leader NPSU).
Protesters blocked the ever busy Canal Road for more than two hours. The Jammu Municipal Corporation Commissioner who arrived at the spot was gheraoed by the students and was taken to Science College to show him the miserable site.
The Municipal Commissioner assured the aggrieved students that the proper drainage system shall be made for the Shaheedi Sthal area and that the municipality will take care that the water does not enter the classroom of the college so that the study of the students goes on smoothly.
