| Speaker assess loss due to rains at Khour | | | JAMMU, JULY 30 : To take stock of the damage caused due to recent rains in
Khour block, Speaker Legislative Assembly Mr Tara Chand yesterday conducted an extensive tour of
the affected areas and assessed the damaged. MP Mr Madan Lal Sharma, MLA Sham Lal Sharma and Deputy Commissioner Jammu Mr
Hirdesh Kumar Singh accompanied the Speaker. Interacting with the people who suffered due to heavy rains, Mr Tara Chand enquired about
he extent of losses. Inhabitants apprised him about dilapidated condition of roads, nallahs especially
Loakhi nallah where the bund stands completely damaged. Speaker directed the accompanying officers to shift the affected people to safer places and
also provide them tented accommodation alongwith free ration and other basic amenities. He also asked
the concerned departments to make adequate arrangements for proper disposal of water. He instructed
them to create such outlets so that water does not accumulate. Mr Tara Chand also visited Panchayat Ghar Gigrial and inspected the construction work of
Hall near Panchayat Ghar. Inhabitants apprised the Speaker about their several problems particularly the
loss of land due to mining by armed forces. They demanded compensation for their lands. Speaker assured to provide relief to affected people on priority. He also visited Darh,
Khour, Pallanwallan, Channi and others areas and interacted with the people. On the occasion, MP Mr Madan Lal Sharma announced that Rs.25000 and 5 marla plot as
compensation would be given to people whose land got damaged due to mining. Senior officers of various departments and local leaders were present.
