Govt ignorant of its past follies on accidents: BJP | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, Aug 12: Expressing BJP’s heart felt sympathies with the families of those who lost their lives in a bus accident in Mahanpur-Tamlahar area of Kathua district besides resulting injuries to 22 people, party State General Satish Sharma said that government departments have not learnt lessons from the past. He said that this accident has once again exposed the working of traffic and transport departments and alleged corrupt practices prevailing in these departments which is a cause of over loading, over speeding and reckless driving resulting in frequent road accidents. Satish Sharma, who also visited GMC hospital to inquire about the condition of the two critically injured persons who have been shifted to Jammu, said that accidents in remote and hilly areas of the state have become a matter of routine due to irresponsible attitude of the departments linked with the transport and roads maintenance. Satish Sharma said that no other loss is as precious as one’s life and no one can bring back the deceased back to life but the government should adopt a humanitarian approach and extend immediate and best possible help to those left behind in the bereaved families. He demanded compensation to each affected families to the tune of rupees five lakh each besides bearing the treatment expenses of th injured persons by the government. Satish Sharma also expresed concern over the recent loss of lives and property caused by heavy floods in Jammu city and other areas. He said that in just one day, properties worth crores of rupees have been washed besides causing deaths to number of innocent civilians. Overflowing of nallahs passing through different areas of the city, land slides and disrupted drainage system coupled with lack of coordination among department like JMC, Severage, UEED and R&B. He further said that although these departments function round the year, still there is lack of will and honesty towards their duties.
