| Paddy production under seed village programme starts | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
Rajouri, Aug 12: Jammu and Kashmir Department of Agriculture sub division Rajouri has this Kharif season started seed production of paddy under seed village programme at village Ladote.
For this purpose 1.5qtls of breeder seed of paddy variety K-448 was distributed to the interested farmers and sowing of seed for seed production was done strictly as per package of practices.
In this regard a training camp was also organized by SDAO Rajouri. In addition to SDAO Rajouri K K Nakhasi, V K Ganju
(SMS), S C Koul (SMS), Dhantor Singh (AEO) and other staff members interacted with farmers.
The farmers were apprised of latest technology of agriculture activities and also about the aims and intention of the Agriculture Department for organizing seed villages.
The basic aims of the Department are to train the farmers to produce the quality seed in their own fields. The Department of
Agriculture is also procuring the quality seeds produced by the farmers so that the same is further distributed amongst the farmers at cheaper rates.
