| Clear backlog under welfare schemes; Estimates Committee | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
Srinagar, Aug 12 (KNS): Committee on Estimates (EC) of Legislative Assembly headed by MLA G M Saroori today called for clearing all pending cases under various welfare schemes including ISSS so that benefits reach to the deserving on time.
The Committee with its Members Dr. Mustrafa Kamal, Ch. Mohammad Ramzan, Abdul Rehman Veeri, Ashok Khajuria, Ashok Kumar, Indu Pawar, Nizamu-ud-Din Bhat, Ch. Zulfkar Ali, Murtaza Ahmad Khan and Subash Chander Gupta met here and discussed in detail the overall functioning of the Social Welfare department.
Criteria for selection of Anganwari Wokers (AWWs) and Helpers besides Anganwari Centres (AWCs), expansion sanctioned under phase 3rd were also threadbare discussed and the Committee directed the concerned to adhere to prescribed norms while opening new AWCs and taking up engagement of AWWs and helpers.
Discussing nutrition items in AWCs, the Committee asked the social welfare authorities to ensure availability of nutrition items in all AWCs and conduct frequent checking of AWCs to enforce punctuality of staff and quality of wholesome diet. It suggested for constitution of monitoring cell in this pursuit.
The Committee also suggested construction of own buildings at tehsil and block levels.
