10 day programmed for developing computer skills concludes at MIER

JAMMU, August 12: A ten day orientation programme for developing and revitalizing the computer skills of the faculty members was organized by Center for Educational Technology, MIER College of Education from August 1 to August 12.
In order to meet the quality objectives of the college which includes optimum usage of technology in the teaching learning process, the faculty is expected to handle computers and be aware of the latest technological advancements.
The workshop was inaugurated by Dr. Renu Gupta, Director MIER. Speaking on the occasion, she said that in this techno-savvy world, everything has been influenced by internet and education is no exception. ICT is the buzz word in education and e-learning is becoming more and more common and the teachers should incorporate these new advancements in their teaching learning process.
Dr. Adit Gupta, Joint Director MIER was also present on the occasion.
He was of the opinion that computers should act as an extension of the inherent teaching skills of the teacher educators. During the programme the faculty members were given hands-on practice in using MS-Word, MS-Excel, graphic representation of data, animations, multimedia presentations, internet usage etc.
The participants improved upon their teaching plans and gained expertise in e-teaching.
The head of the Center for Educational technology, Mool Raj supervised the programme and encouraged the teacher educators to utilize the technological resources provided by the Center. The resource persons of the programme were Monika Mahajan, MCA and Nisha Verma MCA both lecturers of MIER.
The workshop was supported by Computer Lab Incharge Rohini Sharma. Chairman MIER, Dr. Arun Gupta appreciated the efforts of the Technology Cell and said that these types of sessions would go a long way in equipping the teacher trainees with various technological skills to meet the present day challenges.
