PDP MLA alleges his signature was forged to siphon off funds | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, Aug 12 (PTI) An MLA of Opposition PDP today alleged that his signature was forged by government officials to siphon off Rs 22 crore allocated for an electrification scheme in Poonch district, and demanded CBI probe into the matter."Central funds are being looted in Jammu and Kashmir. My signatures were forged by officials in the detailed project report of the Rajiv Gandhi Gramin Vidhutikarn Yojna in Mendhar Assembly segment to siphon off Rs 22 crore meant for electrification of rural areas," former minister and MLA Rafiq Hussain Khan told reporters here."We demand a CBI probe into the scam, audit by Comptroller and Auditor General of India (CAG), and arrest and registration of cases against the people involved in it," Khan said.Giving details, he said the government had approved the RGVKY scheme to electrify uncovered and partially covered villages of the state.Khan said a whopping Rs 22 crore was spent in the name of electrifying 142 villages, but it was actually swindled by the officers at the helm of affairs. He said that the scheme was approved without his consent and his forged signatures were used to get it sanctioned from senior officials."If the government is not hand-in-glove with the culprits, it should take immediate steps to initiate probe into the matter and take action against the delinquents," he added.
