Early Times Report
JAMMU, Aug 12: With party divided in lobbyism there is total disarray among the workers in ruling National Conference in Kashmir Valley since the Chief Minister took the reins of the coalition Government in the state.
According to Party sources the NC cadres feel totally disillusioned with the functioning of the Party leadership who are divided in lobbies having no control over the workers. This state of affairs has led to the total indiscipline in the Party as presented four power centres are working within NC with Omar Abdullah having no control over them, sources added.
Sources said starting from Ganderbal the home Constituency of Abdullah, the ruling NC leaders do not see eye to eye with each other and are openly lobbying against one another. There is total resentment among the senior party leaders for election of former Chief Secretary Sheikh Ghulam Rasool as MLC. And to challenge him these leaders are up in arms against the Party leadership for ignoring their loyalty and seniority.
Sheikh Ghulam Ahmed Saloora who has served the party for decades together considers sheikh Ghulam Rasool most junior to him in the party who is totally upset over election of former Chief Secretary as MLC by ignoring his decades long loyalty and service to the Party. Besides him Mohammed Yousf Raipora is another senior most member from Ganderbal district who considers himself as most deserving candidate for MLC and he is also upset over the Party decision of not considering his name for the post.
Besides them Peer Mohammed Yousf is also a senior most functionary of the Party from Ganderbal district and he too claims his right was first among all to become MLC. All of them are perturbed over the Party decision in ignoring them, the sources said, adding these leaders feel so dejected that one of them had gone to the extent of saying that it was a great blunder to remain associated with the party as they could not face the workers.
Sources said division of Party into lobbies led by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, Party patriarch and Union Minister of Renewable Energy, Omar Abdullah, Party general secretary Sheikh Ghulam Rasool and two senior powerful ministers NC in Valley is totally a divided house today. There is also a great resentment among the senior leadership of the Party all over the Valley against the Party leadership which has sidelined them and given preference to youngsters.
These leaders who consider themselves the important pillars of the Party who had stood by it through every thick and thin are not happy with the style of functioning of the Chief Minister who they allege never bothers to hear them and ignore their suggestions from time to time, sources said, adding this infighting within the Party has been one of the main causes for NC receiving a drubbing in the recently held Panchayat elections in Valley through the hands of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Sources said CM is himself upset with the situation within the Party and this is the reason that when recently a delegation from Ganderbal People Development Society (PDS) tried to have an audience with Abdullah during the public darbar it was denied the same by the officials saying that CM is not willing to meet any delegation from Ganderbal. Such a remark from CM's office perturbed the members of the delegation and then the members sought an audience as the activists of Pensioners Association.
