Govt's free hand to forces took away my son: Ishaq Amit Sharma | | | Surankote, Aug 13: With pain and anguish writ large on his face, Mohammad Ishaq, who had claimed that the person killed in the Surankote fake encounter on August 7 was his son, alleged today that government has given free hand to the police and army to kill innocent civilians. He said that his son has been snatched from him only because of the government's license to kill innocent civilians. Talking to Early Times at Saaj, Ishaq whose DNA sample has been taken for test to testify his claim that person killed in the fake encounter was his son identified by him as Mohammad Aslam. He said that his son was killed only because government has given a free hand to the forces. "Once again the situation has arisen when innocent civilians were being picked and killed in fake encounters and it become possible only when government gave license to forces", he said demanding death sentence to Noor Mohammad, Special Police Officer (SPO) and Abdul Majeed Territorial Army (TA) jawan who are involved in the killing. "We came to know that Supreme Court has given direction hanging till death sentence to the person involved in fake encounter and we demand that both these culprits are hanged till death", he said adding that involvement of other people should also be exposed and they should be taken to task. Ishaq said that he has identified the killed man and he is his son Mohammad Aslam who went missing a few days before the Surankote encounter. Ishaq said that the fake encounters were almost over but they have once again resurfaced and his son becomes its latest victim. "Troops must stop this drama of fake encounters for getting promotions", he added. Meanwhile, the residents said that this incident has refreshed a 20 years old fake encounter case of the area when forces picked up one Tanveer Hussain and killed him in Nowshera area by dubbing him as a militant. "We found Tanveer's skeleton few years later and same has happened in Surankote where a civilian of Saaj has been killed in the name of encounter", they added. |
