No specific inputs about militant attack on I-Day: DGP | | | Early Times Report SRINAGAR, Aug 13 : While security arrangements have been tightened up in Srinagar and other district headquarters in the Kashmir valley, there are no specific inputs about militant attack on August 15, Director General of Police said Saturday. "Inputs keep coming but there are no specific inputs (about any militant attack on August 15. But we will endeavour to provide foolproof security in connection with the function," Kuldeep Khoda, the DGP, told reporters in response to a question on sidelines of a dress rehearsal function here. The top police cop said that the tightened security arrangements have been put in place in Srinagar and other district headquarters were flagging off ceremonies take place. He said police, IRP and paramilitary CRPF have been deployed to maintain "law and order" in the state. Three-tier security arrangements have been put in and around the Bakshi Stadium, the main venue for I-day celebrations where Chief Minister Omar Abdullah will take the salute and unfurl the tri-colour, sources said. The security agencies have also press the sniffer dogs into service to check out for any subversive element in and around the venue. Sharp shooters have been deployed around the stadium and at its immediate vicinity to thwart any attempts of disturbing the function. The police and paramilitary CRPF also conduct random frisking in the area along with Lal Chowk-the commercial hub of the state. Security arrangements were also beefed up elsewhere in the valley, they added. |
