Rs. 5 cr earmarked for drought hit families of Poonch district: Bhalla

Poonch, Aug 14: – Minister for Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation
Raman Bhalla today said that Government has earmarked Rs. 5 crore for distribution of compensation among drought hit families of 2009 of the district under National Calamity Relief Fund (NCRF).

This was stated by Minister while distributing the cheques worth Rs. 82, 440 among the 36 affected families at a function held at Dak Banglow, here this evening.
MLA Poonch-Haveli Ejaz Ahmed Jan, District Development Commissioner Ajeet Kumar Sahu besides other senior officers of Revenue and Relief were present on the occasion.
Bhalla asked the DDC to prepare the list of left out drought hit families of the district and submit the same after assessing the loss of their crops so that compensation could be disbursed among them under norms fixed by the Government. He appealed the farmer community to approach the revenue officers for compensation due to them.
Responding to the locals demands, the Minister informed that district administration has submitted a detailed project report of Rs. 5.57 crore for construction of DDC office complex in the district adding that out of which Rs. 3.35 crore has been already released.
He said that the complex which is nearing completion, would be dedicated to the public within one month. He said after its inauguration, the people can approach and solve their issues related to revenue, PHE, PDD, Social Welfare, Forest, I&FC, Agriculture,
Municipal Council, RDD, School Education, Horticulture, Animal Husbandry etc under one roof.
Regarding construction of Modern Record Room, Bhalla said the Government has identified land for this purpose adding that the construction of the complex would be started after release of funds from Planning Department. For construction of Tehsil Office complex at Mandi, he said Government has released Rs. 1 crore out of submitted DPR estimating the cost at Rs. 2.98 crore for early start of project adding that remaining amount would be released in due course of time .
He said Government has earmarked Rs. 7 crore for construction of SDM office and Tehsil Office which was gutted during turmoil in September 2010 adding that the project could be started after completing tendering formalities. For repair and renovation SDM and Officers residential accommodation complex at Mendhar, he said Government of approved Rs. 17 lakh for this purpose, the work is under progress. The Minister said Government is committed to provide all basic amenities to the people of the district at par with twin cities of the State.
On the demand of refugees, Bhalla said Government has earmarked Rs. 5 crore for distribution of land deficiency compensation to displaced families of 1947, 1965 and 1971 of the district,
