| Cong, not NC main target of BJP in J&K | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Aug 14 : Is BJP sincere in raising the land grabbing issue in the state? And if is so then Party would have not targeted a Minister of a particular Party in ruling coalition while maintaining a total silence on the role of senior coalition partners in the Government.
According to sources BJP leadership for last some years has made a particular minister target accusing him of grabbing hundreds kanals of land in Tawi area while turning a blind eye to land encroachment by other politicians especially to those belonging to senior coalition partner. Had BJP been sincere in its motive it would have forcefully fought the issue by exposing all who so ever he may be. But Party's stoic silence on the activities of ministers belonging to senior coalition partner in the Government is an indication of hidden understanding of the Party with its leadership, sources added.
Otherwise there was no ground for BJP to make the ministers of particular party target while ignoring the omissions and commissions of the other, sources said adding, for last over three years many BJP leaders in the state have raised the issue of alleged land grabbing in Tawi island by a senior minister of the coalition belonging to Congress Party but the BJP leadership could not muster the courage to unmask the alleged land grabbing by the leaders of senior coalition partner in different parts of the state.
This shows a clear understanding between the NC and BJP leadership otherwise there was no reason for BJP leadership to maintain calm on such acts of land grabbing by the leaders of senior coalition partner, sources said. Not only the leaders of Congress but that of NC as well as bureaucrats and senior officers are involved in alleged land grabbing in the state and BJP has not bothered to name them or target them. It otherwise made Congress and its leaders target to settle the political scores with its leadership, sources added.
Sources said besides hundreds of kanals of land of displaced Kashmiri Pandits and their religious places has been encroached in Valley during last 22 years of turmoil and the BJP which claims to champion the cause of cultural nationalism in the country never bothered to raise this issue forcefully in State Legislature or Parliament knowing fully that total injustice has been done to the hapless minority Pandits in Valley who were thrown out from Kashmir under a hatched conspiracy.
Sources said hundreds kanals of land belonging to Baba Dharam Dass in Kashmir Valley was reportedly sold and grabbed by land mafia in Kashmir. Besides, the land of various Hindu religious places has also been encroached in Kashmir over this period but the BJP leadership in state as well as Centre tried to down play the issue, sources added.
Terming BJP's claims of fighting to protect the ancient culture of India as hollow, sources said had it been so the Party would have taken up the issue of encroachment of land of Hindu religious places in Valley which besides the worship places of Hindus are the ancient cultural centres linked to ancient Shaiv philosophy of Kashmir. The Party which claims that preserving cultural nationalism of India is its main agenda has been found wanting in raising this serious issue either in Parliament or outside, sources added.
Sources said that senior BJP leader Dr Murli Manohar Joshi during the Doda Bachao Andolan in Jammu four years back has himself admitted that Kashmir was a treasure of Shaiva philosophy and symbols of a unique and great philosophy renowned all pover te world. But what BJP has done for its preservation and safety as a national political party is a million dollar question. |
