64th Independence Day celebrated with patriotic fervour
Various organizations hoist National Flag, distribute sweets

JAMMU, Aug 15: Unfurling of National Flag and patriotism based cultural programme marked the celebrations of 64th Independence Day across Jammu division.
Powergrid Northern Region Transmission System-II celebrated 65th Independence Day at Grid Bhawan, near Bahu Plaza Jammu with gaiety and enthusiasm. S K Sharma, General Manager (Projects), NRTS -II, who was the Chief Guest on the occasion, unfurled the flag.
Meena Sharma, president Shrishti Mahila Samiti Powergrid Jammu, senior officials, employees, their families and children were present on the occasion.
In his brief address, S K Sharma, General Manager (Projects), congratulated the employees and their families on the occasion of Independence Day. He stressed on the fact that more infrastructural and job avenues need to be created in our villages so that migration from villages to big cities could be stopped and our agricultural sector flourishes.
Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) celebrated 65th Independence Day with gaiety and enthusiasm at its complex at Railhead. Dy.SP Shri Radhey Shyam, in the absence of SP CBI, Dr Armandeep Singh who has gone on a foreign assignment and Sr PP Shri S.K Bhat who is busy in the trial of Shopian murder case in Srinagar, unfurled the National Flag and took salute from D Company of 30 Battalion of CRPF.
Stressing upon combating corruption in public life through meticulous investigation and prosecution, he asked the officers and other staff to be alert, decisive, fair and humane. Among others, investigating officers Shri Ashok Kalra, Kamal Sangra, B.B Sharma, Jagdeep Singh, B.D Dandia, Om Parkash, Lalit Kumar, Didar Singh and APP Neetu Singh were present.
Meanwhile, a flag hoisting ceremony was also held at Vijaypur in which Manjeet Singh, ex minister, was chief guest. On the occasion Manjeet unfurled the national flag and remembered the sacrifices of the brave leaders. He stressed upon the people to follow the path of non violence. Earlier, the national song was sung following sweets were disturbed among the people.
In a similar function, PDP Jammu west constituency zone hosted flag at ward no 8 Dogra Hall Jammu under the chairmanship of zonal president Jammu west Puneet Jamwal.
Speaking on the occasion senior PDP leader Salman Bhatti said that Independence Day is a big eve and it should be celebrated in a big way joys and enthusiasm living aside caste and religion
Sweets were also distributed among the people after the completion of Nation anthem.
Likewise, the Independence Day function was celebrated with traditional gaiety and enthusiasm at the headquarters of Dudu Basantgarh Sub Division located at Basantgarh in which Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Dudu Basantgarh Amit Sharma was the Chief guest who unfurled the national flag at Government Higher Secondary School, Basantgarh, followed by march past parade by contingents of Police, para military forces and students of various schools of the Sub Division.
This was followed by awarding of appreciation certificates by SDM Amit Sharma to nine Government Employees working for different departments such as I/c AEE PDD Chenani Rajesh Sharma, Manager J&K Bank Basantgarh Rameshwar Dubey, SHO Latti Devinder Singh, I/c Police Post Dudu Rajesh Angral, Master GMS Mang Jaidev Chand, I/c Health Dispensary Dudu Dr Riaz Ahmed, JAEO Chatriari, Jatinder Kumar Chaudhary, Driver Ambulance PHC Basantgarh Kishore Kumar and Orderly Revenue Department Krishan Dutt who have contributed in various nooks and corners of the Sub Division with great dedication.
In Kishtwar also the Independence Day was celebrated with traditional flavor. Shabir Ahmad Khan MOS, Power, forest, environment and ecology , CA&PD and Transport , hoisted the national flag.
On this occasion several cultural programmes were also presented by the students of different schools.
Central Mahajan Sabha (Regd.) celebrated the Independence Day by at Shalamar Bhawan. The flag was unfurled by Vinod Gupta, president of above Sabha.
Lavish Social and Educational Trust Jammu also celebrated the Independence day which was attended by large number of people from all walks of life besides it functionaries. The National flag was unfurled by Vinod Pandita, chairman of the Trust which followed by National anthem and patriotic songs.
While speaking on the occasion Vinod Pandita explained in depth the importance of the day and paid rich tributes to the martyrs who laid down their lives for the cause of the country and Nation.
Pawan Kumar, Sunita Kumari, Pawan Mattoo, Anuradha, Archana Sharma and various others also spoke on the occasion in the same vein.
Likewise, Independence Day was celebrated with great pomp and gaiety at Gandhi Memorial College Of Education, Raipur, Bantalab, Jammu.
The celebrations began with flag hoisting ceremony by President of the Hindu Education Society Kashmir, Anil Dhar along with the Management members of (HESK),which was followed by the National Anthem.
Speaking on this occasion Anil Dhar said that our motherland had earned freedom due to the relentless struggle and immense sacrifices of innumerable freedom fighters, and so it is our duty to remember and pay homage to all the valiant men and women who took part in this unparallel saga of freedom struggle.
In the same way, the Swarnkar Sangh Jammu city also celebrated the Independence Day. Krishan Lal Abrol (President), Naveen Nischal (General Secretary) and Parveen Anand (Cashier) Swarankar Sangh Jammu Province unfurled national tri-colour flag.
SSJC organized a main function at Chowk Chabutra, Jammu.
Various members of the Sabha highlighted the importance of Independence Day and contribution of our freedom fighters on the occasion and distributed sweets among members and area of the people.
Similarly, Arorabans Sabha, under its President Ramesh Arora (Adv.) and other office bearers hoisted tricolor at Kachi Chawni Chowk, which was attended by a large number of biradari members and the people drawn from all sections of the society.
The most significant event was the felicitating a 10+2 topper Priyanka Arora, daughter of one of biradari family, who was presented an amount of rupees 5001 for her extraordinary talent under Late Shri Chuni Lal Kabatra award.
Ramesh Arora, on this occasion, said that like other Indians, our biradari members too support the noble cause undertaken by Anna Hazare to eradicate corruption from the country and pledge for supporting every such individual or group which comes forward to end the menace of corruption.
On the auspicious occasion of 65th anniversary of Independence Day, BJP State president Shamsher Singh Manhas, alongwith other senior leaders hoisted the tricolor in the premises of party headquarters at Kachi Chawni.
The party leaders sang the national anthem and greeted each other for this historic day. Later, sweets were also disturbed.
Similarly, the Independence Day was today celebrated with great zeal and enthusiasm by the staff and students of Government Higher Secondary School Ghou Manhasan and Government Middle School Ghou Manhasan in the premises of Government Higher Secondary School.
Principal, Government higher secondary school Ghou Manhasan Parshotam Dutt Sharma who was the chief gust unfurled the tricolor.
J&K Samaj Kalyan Kendra free secondary school for hearing and speech handicapped boys and girls celebrated the Independence Day in the school premises with great fervour and gaiety.
This was followed by a short address to the gathering by him, congratulating all on the auspicious occasion of Independence day.
Congress party celebrated the Independence Day in all its district and block headquarters. The main function was held at PCC HQ Jammu where Om Chopra, Ex-MLA and President District Congress Committee Jammu (Urban) hoisted National Flag in the presence of functionaries of PCC, DCC, Mahila Congress, Youth Congress, Sedva Dal, INTUC, NSUI and the people from all sections of society.
Speaking on the occasion Chopra delivered an emotional speech which thrilled the people with desire to serve the nation. He recalled the sacrifices of its great leaders and many other freedom fighters who sacrificed their lives to liberate India from foreign rulers and guide modern India towards its substantive progress.
Chairman PCC Labour Cell, Hari Singh Chib hoisted national flag in a colorful function held at Palora. Former Minister and Senior Congress leader Mula Ram was the chief guest.
Speaking on the occasion Mula Ram said that India was liberated on 15th August 1947 after fighting a long war of independence and sacrificing thousands of precious lives in the freedom struggle.
He said, after getting independence there was fight against the poverty and hunger, which was won successfully under the leadership.
He appealed to defeated such forces and strengthen the bounds of secularism at all level. Sat Pal Chib and Rajinder Singh Jamwal were also spoke on the occasion.
Ex-corporate and block president Rajni Bala hoisted national flag at Ward No. 60 Buta Nagar, Jammu. Sweets were also distributed on the occasion.
All J&K Cultural Development Forum, Trikuta Nagar celebrates 65th Independence Day with great Pomp and Show in Main Market, Trikuta Nagar, Jammu. Chief Guest, Dr. Jatindera Singh along with Guest of honor, Aseem Gupta hoisted the National Flag followed by the ceremonious singing of the National Anthem. Cultural program was presented by a team of Sanskar Bharti school children.
65TH Independence Day was celebrated in Sainik Colony with great pomp and show. National Tricolour was hoisted at Society's office building by Col (Retd) KS Padwal, Chairman of Sainik Co-Operative House building Society Ltd on 15 Aug 2011 at 0900 hours in the presence of large number of residents along with members of the management.
National Flag was also hoisted at Sainik Public School by the Principal Sainik Public School in the presence of staff and children. Sweets were distributed amongst the children on the occasion.
The Indian National Trade Union Congress (LN.T.U.C.) has celebrated 65th lndependence Day with great Pomp and show like in the past at PRE Pumping Station Sub Division, I Company Bagh Jammu and B.R. Dogra, Chief Engineer, PRE Department, Jammu hoisted the National Flag, Dogra in his brief speech narrated the impoliance of this Day and urged the employees and workers to work dedicatedly and honestly and also ren1ain alert to safe guard the property of the PHE Departn1ent from the anti social elements.
Government Polytechnic for Women, Jammu celebrated 65th Independence Day to-day the 15th of August 2011 in the college Premises. The National flag was unfurled by the chief guest, Er. Bodh Raj Verma, Secretary, J & K State Board of Technical Education.
Er. Verma highlighted the importance of the day and stressed upon the students to work with a zeal for their personality development and simultaneous development of work culture among themselves which will result in advancement of the nation.
On the eve of 65th independence day the VISHU PUBLIC SCHOOl, Hari Naga, Old Janipur ,Jammu Celebrate Independence Day on Monday with great love and enthusiasm .the colorful program Started with the unfurling National Flag by the principal of the school, B.D.Sharma fallowed By the National songs and group dances by the student of the school Jai Jawan Jai Kissan Development Committee (JJJKDC) today organized various functions to celebrate 65th Independence Day of the Nation with great patriotic fervour in block Dansal.
The main function was held at block headquarters Dansal where the Block Development Officer (BDO) T. S. Dansal Sohrawardy was the Chief Guest. He hoisted the tricolour and took salute of March Past. The founder and Chairman of the Committee Anil Sharma presided over the function.
A large number of Sarpanches, Naib Sarpanches, Panches and local people, particularly students took part in the celebrations.
Shalamar Traders Association organized a function to celebrate 64th Independence Day at Shalamar Park, Shalamar Road, Jammu. With patriotic fervour and joy. The Function started with the flag - hoisting ceremony, rollowed by singing or National Anthem Ashok Khajuria M.L.A. Jammu East, unfurled the national Flag, while addressing the gathering Khajuria said that need of the hour is to influse the spirit of patriotism among the people. 65th Independence Day was celebrated with traditional fervour and gaiety by National Mazdoor Conference Incollabration with traders of Pacca Danga and Moti Bazar.
In this connection a colourful function was organized at Pacca Danga Chowk where a large numbers people's from different walk of life participated. On the occasion NMC chief Subash Shastri was the chief guest.
The newly elected chairman of the Cooperative Societies kathua Sh. Karan Singh has unfurled the national flag at the office of society in respect of the celebration of the 65th years of Independence Day the India. On the occasion Chairman of the Kathua cooperative societies Karan Singh urged the common man to come forward to curb the anti social elements in order to protect the freedom of the Indians which has been achieved after giving the massive sacrifices by the people of India from the hands of Britishers on 15th August 1947. On the occasion Rtd District Bank Manager Sh. Daya Ram Sharma, Aswhani Sharma, Tarsem Saini, Sat Paul Bhandri, Arjun Sharma, and others were present.
The West Pakistan Refugee Action Committee state president Labha Ram Gandhi and State Gen Secretary Chajju Singh Manhas celebrated 65th Independence Day by hoisting the tricolor national flag at Shaheed Bhagat Singh Park kathua. While addressing the committee the state president urged the state and union government to solve their long pending genuine demands for permanent citizen's status.
The Jammu Kashmir National Panther Party unit district Kathua celebrated the 65th Independence Day with full enthusiasm. On the occasion the district president Ravinder Singh Pathania along with several activists of JKNNP hoisted the tricolor national flag at Shaheed Bhagat Singh Park Kathua.
In kathua the Jail police celebrated 65th Independence Day along with the jail inmates with full enthusiasm. To give the honor to the Independence Day the Jail superintendent SP B.S Jasrotia hoisted the national tricolor flag. To memorize the great heroes of the freedom movement who gave their valuable lives for the cause of nation due to which the India got freedom from the brutal clutches of the Britishers on 15th August 1947, the Jail inmates (prisoner) also organized a cultural programme in which they sang the several patriotic dance and also performed the dances.
A massive procession was taken out on motorcycle around the town kathua by the Akhil Bhartya Vidhyarthi Parishad activists to celebrate the 65th Independence Day of India. The procession was graced with Jai Bharat, Vande Materm, Jai Hind slogans and appealed the youth to intensify the second freedom movement to get free India from the corruption which has badly affected the lives of common man of the country. In the procession senior activists of ABVP Ravinder Sharma, Rahul Dev, Arun Raina, Manmohan Sharma's Pardeep Gupta, Sanjay, Sajan, and Kapil were also present.
