Omar Pushing State Towards Chaos: Mehbooba | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Aug 15: The People's Democratic Party has alleged the NC-Congress government in Jammu and Kashmir is pursuing anti-people and anti-youth policies which had created chaos besides plunging the state into economic morass. "The current dispensation has not been successful in carrying forward the development projects and trust generated among the people by the previous PDP-led government," PDP head Mehbooba Mufti said in a press release here. "As a result, the people are reeling under the lack of development," she told party workers in Nanak Nagar area in the city last evening. "The coalition government, headed by Omar Abdullah, is pursuing anti-people and anti-youth policies which has created chaos and confusion besides plunging the state into economic morass," Mehbooba said. The present government had negated every good work and hard efforts made by the previous government led by her party, she alleged. During the Congress-PDP rule, power and tourism projects were started but these were yet to see the light of the day, the PDP president said. "Now, the killing of innocent civilians, custodial disappearances, financial mess and lack of development have become order of the day in the state," she said. Reiterating PDP's demand for a free economic zone as envisaged in the party's self-rule document, Mehbooba said it would usher a new era of peace, tranquillity and development in Asia. "Jammu and Kashmir has the potential of becoming a hub of this free trade zone," she said adding "this will also be in the interest of the people of both India and Pakistan." The PDP chief demanded opening of the Jammu-Sialkote route for trade. |
