Independence Day celebrated with fervour, gaiety across Jammu province

Jammu, July 15: 65th Independece Day of the nation was celebrated with national fervour and patriotic zeal elsewhere in Jammu region, with main functions organized at the district headquarters. Almost all Jammu based ministers unfurled the triclour at various district headquarters to mark the celebrations of the Day.
Jammu: Independence Day was celebrated with national fervour across Jammu region with flag hoisting functions held at tehsil, Block, and Panchayat levels across Jammu region. Government, social political organizations and educational institutions also held similar functions and paid tributes to the national heroes of freedom movement.
At Indira Gandhi Government Dental College (IGGDC) Jammu, the National Flag was hoisted by Dr Romesh Singh, Principal, Indira Gandhi Government Dental College, Jammu. Dr. Mohan Singh, Medical Superintendent, Govt. Dental Hospital, Jammu, Dr. Rakesh Gupta, Associate Prof. & HOD, Dr. Azhar Malik, HOD, Dr. Bhawna Kaul, Asstt. Prof., other officers of the college including Assistant Director (P&S), Accounts Officer, Private Secretary, faculty members, doctors, wardens, paramedical staff, office staff, students and security staff attended the flag hoisting ceremony.
Poonch: Minister for Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation Mr. Raman Bhalla hoisted the National flag today at Sports Stadium, Poonch and took salute at an impressive march past presented by the JKP, JKAP, Police Auxiliary, CRPF, NCC students and children of various educational institutions of the district. District Development Commissioner Mr. Ajeet Kumar Sahu, SSP Mr. Ashkoor Ahmed Wani, political leaders of various parties, prominent citizens, students, locals, besides officers of Civil and Police administration were present on the occasion. A mammoth 25000 audience coming all the way from across the border district witnessed the I-Day celebrations .
The Minister also listed the achievements mad in Jammu and Kashmir despite twenty years of militancy and violence. Asserting that the state is fully geared to fight militancy and the evil intensions of mischievous elements, he said that India wants to maintain friendly relations with all neighbouring countries including Pakistan. He appealed all political organizations to rise above party interests and strengthen the integrity of the state with the country.
He said like other parts of India, Jammu and Kashmir has also a unique and diverse socio-religious fabric, adding that each one of us should contribute towards preserving the exemplary feature of unity in diversity for which India is known worldwide. Mr. Bhalla informed that on the recommendations of the Task Force for Jammu and Ladakh Rs.10 crore and Rs.7 crore respectively have been sanctioned for construction of mini Secretariat complexes at Poonch and Mendhar respectively adding that DPR of both the projects has been sent to Planning Department and work will be started soon.
Reasi: In Reasi, 65th Independence Day was celebrated with great fervour enthusiasm at sports stadium Reasi today. The Minister for Higher Education, Labour and Employment, Mr Abdul Gani Malik unfurled the tricolor and took salute at the march past comprising 28 contingents drawn from police and educational institutions.
MLA Reasi, Mr Baldev Raj Sharma, District Development Commissioner, Reasi, Mr P K Pole, SSP Reasi, political leaders of different parties, prominent citizens, officers from various departments, students and thousands of audience witnessed the function.
Similar functions were also held at Pouni, Arnas, Mahore, Salal Talwara, Agarjitto and other parts of the Reasi district.
Kishtwar : In Kishtwar, Independence Day was celebrated with traditional gaiety and fervour at district headquarter, tehsil and blocks of Marwah, Warwan, Padder and Chhatroo here today.
The main function was held in the Chowgon ground, where Minister of State for Power, Forest, CAPD, Transport, Mr Shabir Ahmed Khan hoisted the National Tricolor and took salute at the march past by 21 contingents.
He also reiterated the government's resolve to tackle the unemployment problem by way of initiating a number of power projects for harnessing the power potentials of 20000 Mega Watt. He said if tapped optimally the hydro power projects would provide ample avenues for the educated unemployed, skilled and semi skilled youths in the state.
Among others, District Development Commissioner, Kishtwar, ADC, ADDC, ACR, Commandants 9 Sector RR and CRPF, SP, all district officers, prominent citizens, political and social workers.
Doda : Independence day was celebrated in Doda with national spirit and enthusiasm. The chief guest, Minister for Tourism and Culture Nawang Rigzin Jora unfurled the tricolor and took salute at the march past by the contingents of JKP, CRPF, JKAP,FPF, NCC and School Children.
While congratulating the people of Doda , Mr. Jora said that equal opportunities irrespective of the cast, culture, region or religion has been the considerable achievement of India civilization.
He said "We are proud to be born as the citizens of great India where different religions live together with harmony and brotherhood". The Minister also remembered the sacrifices made by the freedom fighters to secure freedom from British rule.
Rajouri : The 65th Independence Day was celebrated with gaiety and enthusiasm across Rajouri district. Minister for Health, Floriculture and Horticulture Mr. Sham Lal Sharma hoisted Tri-colour at Police lines Rajouri and took salute at march past comprising contingents of JKP, JKAP, CRPF, NCC and Police band etc.
He also paid tributes to the Army, para-military and police personnel who made sacrifices to protect the frontiers of the nation from the enemies. "Their deep sense of commitment, dedication and patriotism inspire all of us for which entire nation feels proud to salute them", he added.
MLA Darhal Choudhary Zulafkar, DDC Rajouri G. A. Khawaja, DIG Rajouri Poonch Mr. Rajesh Kumar, Ex-Speaker Mirza Abdul Rashid, Ex-Minister Choudary Talab Hussain, district officers and prominent citizens were
Government Polytechnic for Women, Jammu, celebrated Independence Day in the college premises. The National flag was unfurled by the Secretary, J&K State Board of Technical Education, Er. Bodh Raj Verma who was the chief guest on the occasion.. Principal, North Polytechnic Mr. Kuldeep Raj Verma was the guest of honour on the occasion. At R.S. Pura, SDM Mr. Ashwani Khajuria hoisted the national flag and took salute at the march past. MLA Suchetgarh Mr. Sham Chowdhary was the guest of honour on the occasion. GHSS, Dori Dager Tehsil Akhnoor celebrated the Independence Day with patriotic ferver and zeal. Principal of the School Mr Raphael hoisted the tricolor and took salute at the March past. Large number of people participated in the Independence Day celebrations in this far flung and hilly area known for the holy shrine of Shri Baba Mai Mal Ji. Students presented a colourful cultural programme which made the audience spellbound. Mahant Manjit Singh Indian Public School, Simbal in R. S. Pura Tehsil of Jammu district celebrated Independence Day with enthusiasm and gaiety.
The Principal Kulwant Singh unfurled the tricolour and took salute from the school contingents. Later, a cultural programme was presented by the students of the school.
At Majalta the Independence Day was celebrated in the premises of Government Higher Secondary School where the National Flag was unfurled by Tehsildar Majalta, Mrs Sapna Kotwal who also took salute from at the march past of contingents drawn from various educational institutions of Majalta tehsil, today. Tehsil officers, teachers, school children, prominent citizens and people in large number were present on the occasion. At Chenani, MLA, Mr. Krishan Chander Bhagat , unfurled Tricolour and took salute at the march past presented by the contingents drawn from various schools of the tehsil. Tehsildar Chenani, Mr Ravinder Kumar Anand, Prominent citizens, teachers, students and people in large number were present to witness the national function.
At Gool Tehsildar Agrarian Reforms, Gool, Mr Navdeep Wazir hoisted the National flag at GHSS, Gool premises likewise Naib Tehsildar, unfurled national falg at the premises of GHSS, Panchari. .At Govt. Middle School, Garnai, Udhampur, Headmaster of the School unfurled the National flag and took salute at the march past of students.
At Ramnagar, MLA, Ramnagar, Mr. Harsh Dev Singh, hoisted the Tricolour at the function held in the premises of Govt. HSS, Ramnagar and took salute at the march past presented by the Police, NCC and students of various educational institutions today.
At Katra, Additional Chief Executive Officer, SMVD, Katra, Dr. M.K. Bhandari unfurled the National flag and took salute at an impressive march past of 15 contingents drawn from various educational institutions.
At Akhnoor Independence Day was celebrated at Government Higher Secondary School (Boys) Akhnoor with great pump an show in Sub Division Akhnoor SDM Akhnoor, Mr. Ashok Kumar Sharma hoisted the National Flag. A number of schools from different parts of the Sub Division Akhnoor participated in the March Past. Similar function was also held at Niabat Headquarters Jourian, Pargwal and Khour where Naib Tehsildars hoisted the National Flag.
At Basohli MLA, Mr. Jagdish Raj Sapolia hoisted the national flag at Ram Lila Ground Basohli and took salute from the march past. He appealed the people to maintain communal harmony and brother hood.
At Billawar SDM, Mr. Jatinder Kumar Singh unfurled the National flag and took salute from the march past. At Hiranagar Tehsildar, Mr. Surinder Bhagat hoisted the National flag and took salute. MLA Hiranagar, Mr. Durga Dass was also present on the occasion Cultural programme was also presented by the school children on the occasion.
At Bani the SDM Bani Mr Rajinder Kumar Sharma hoisted the national flag and took the salute from the march past. A cultural programme was also presented by the school children's on the occasion.
65th Independence Day was celebrated in Government Higher Secondary School, Rajpura, District Samba with great pomp and show. Principal of the institution Mr. Deepak Gupta unfurled the National Anthem by the students and took salute of the March past.
Independence Day function was celebrated with lot of enthusiasm at Gandhi Statue, Satwari Chowk, Jammu-Cantt which was organized by Mr. Kuldeep Raj Gupta (Bitta), President, Mahatma Gandhi Intellectual Society, Jammu Cantt. Independence Day of the Indian Republic was celebrated today in Mandi tehsil of District Poonch. The official function of the celebrations was held at Government Higher Secondary School (Boys). MLA Ajaz Ahmed Jan was the chief guest on the occasion.
