Pak reciprocates India's I-Day good wishes to it by firing bullets | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Aug 15 : Pakistan did not reciprocate India's good wishes on Independence Day. On its I-Day yesterday, Indian border troops greeted their counterparts by giving them sweets and bouquets. They, however, reciprocated by opening fire on the International Border (IB) in the wee hours of today. On the Line of Control (LoC), where there was no ceasefire violation by the enemy troops, Pak Mujahid Regiment's Col Umar Gul and his subordinates called on Indian troops led by Col Christopher at Chakan-da-Bagh in Poonch and greeted them. Official sources said the Pak contingent gave sweets and fruit to Indian troops who offered them tea and sweets during the flag meeting that lasted an hour. India too had offered them sweets, bouquets and fruit on their I-Day yesterday at Octroi outpost in R S Pura and on the LoC. Sources said while BSF troops expected the Rangers to wish them on I-Day today, they reciprocated by opening fire from their Lehri Kalan post on the Ballard forward outpost in Ramgarh sub-sector of Samba. The firing, which was totally unprovoked, started at about 3.10 am and ended at about 3.40 am, the sources added. India retaliated. There was no casualty on the Indian side. Casualty, if any, on the Pak side was not known, sources said. Sources said soon after the Rangers resorted to firing, the troops were alerted all along the IB to foil any infiltration bid by the Pak-based militants.
