Kulgam rape complaint false: Govt | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT KULGAM, Aug 16 The government on Tuesday claimed that Kulgam alleged rape case complaint has proven false after investigations. Addressing a press conference Deputy Commissioner Kulgam Farooq Ahmad and SP Kulgam Mubashir Lateefi Tuesday here said the complaint of rape has been found incorrect. “On July 21 a lady from Gujardar Manzgam reported to police that she had gone to a nearby spring on July 19 where she was abducted by two army personnel in uniform and wireless sets and later raped for two days. On the instructions of the DGP a Special Investigation Team was constituted to probe the case,” the SP told reporters. “The lady was immediately medically examined and the exhibits were sent to FSL Srinagar for examinations. The tests have been found negative which proves that the complaint filed by the woman was wrong. After report of forensic there is no doubt that the allegations of the woman were baseless,” he claimed. The SP said that during the course of investigations the site plan was prepared and statements of witnesses were recorded before chief judicial magistrate Kulgam. “The woman in her statement deposed that neither she was abducted nor raped. The statement of other witnesses also corroborates her statement before the CJM,” the SP added. Lateefi said that investigation of the case was still going on to find out the circumstances and facts which led the lady to lodge a false FIR against the Army personnel. (KNS)
