SRINAGAR, Aug 16: United States Senator, John McCain called on Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah here this evening.
During the meeting matters relating to the socio-economic development and protection of environment were discussed in the meeting.
John McCain is the Vice Chairman of the Senate Armed Forces Committee and was the Republican Presidential candidate against US President, Barack Obama in the last US Presidential elections.
McCain was assisted by his two Advisors, Christian Brose and Vance Serchuk and the First Secretary (Political) Paul Narian in the meeting.
The Chief Minister was assisted by Minister of State for Home, Nasir Aslam Wani, Political Advisor to the Chief Minister, Devender Singh Rana and Principal Secretary Home, B. R. Sharma.
Earlier, McCain called on Governor N N Vohra and had a detailed discussion with him, sources told KNS.
Meanwhile, sources told KNS that McCain is likely to meet civil society members and separatists leaders during his stay in Kashmir. (KNS)
