Teachers forum demand filling of vacant lecturers posts | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Aug 16: All Jammu and Kashmir Plus 2 lecturers Forum has urged the government to fill the vacant posts of lecturers in School Education Department. The central executive of the forum which met here under the chairmanship of H.D Qureshi has expressed serious concern over the shortage of teaching faculty at senior secondary level particularly in rural and far-flung areas of the state. He expressed surprise that only in Jammu region about 1000 posts of lecturers in different disciplines are lying vacant since years together despite the fact that eligible teachers are available for promotion in the particular subjects. Qureshi highly appreciated the efforts of Director School Education G.A Qureshi who has affected the elevation of hundreds of teachers to the rank of masters and headmasters in the department and had made functional all the institutions which were otherwise defunct in absence of teaching staff. The house expressed its satisfaction that the bold decision and dynamic approach of officials has streamlined the system which will further help in improving the academic performance of the government schools. He appealed the Minister for education Peerzada Muhammad Sayeed and Commissioner Secretary Education Naseema Lankar for their personnel intervention to end the problems being faced by the teaching fraternity. Others who spoke on the occasion included Charan Dass and Manmeet Bali, both vice-president, N.S Jamwal, general secretary, Ashwani Sharma, chief organizer and B.D Sharma, district president. |
