| Inter-college competitions start tomorrow | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, August 16: Annual inter-college competitions of the University of Jammu (JU), organised by the Department of Physical Education and Sports, start from August 18 with the holding of men’s cross country event on the campus, here.
The women’s cross country competition shall take place a day later on August 19 at the same venue. “The cross country competition shall take place on the campus at 7 am in the morning. As per the past practice, the cross country event makes a beginning of the annual inter-college competitions of the JU,” Assistant Director, Dr Sonam Angchok told SAN.
The next event in the line, as per the calendar of the activities decided on August three in the meeting of the Physical Directors of the affiliated colleges, is men and women’s swimming contest on August 29 and August 30.
Meanwhile, the Department of Physical Education gears up for nearly six-month long activities in different indoor and outdoor disciplines in men and women sections.
“Considering the laid down calendar, we are on the job to get the venues ready for the competitions ahead. Likewise, previous year, some of the events have been allotted to affiliated colleges at Udhampur, Kathua and Jammu,” informed the Assistant Director.
One of the city colleges, GGM Science College has been allotted four events of chess, table tennis, football and lawn tennis. While, Government Degree College Kathua has been assigned the job of hosting men’s volleyball event, Government Degree College Udhampur shall be holding men’s kho-kho and men’s kabaddi.
