Make Interlocutors report public: BJP | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU AUG 16: Describing the Jammu & Kashmir Chief Minister’s disclosure in his Independence Day address that he has been assured by the Prime Minister and Union Home Minister that Dilip Padgoankar-led Interlocutors’ recommendations will be implemented in “letter and spirit”, as an act of impropriety not keeping with the spirit of democracy, the BJP J&K Chief Spokesperson & National Executive Member Dr. Jitendra Singh has reiterated his party’s demand to make the Interlocutors report public before it is taken up for any further follow-up action. Dr. Jitendra Singh said that the Chief Minister’s unguarded assertion has pushed the Interlocutors’ into yet another controversy and raised new questions instead of resolving the earlier questions. First, why is the National Conference keen for implementation of Interlocutors’ report? Is it because the NC leadership has received som kind of clandesture assurance from Union Home Minister that the Interlocutors’ report is largely based on the NC’s Autonomy draft? If so, it would only confirm the doubts that the Interlocutors are biased in favour of a particular political lobby at the behest of the Union Home Ministry and that the Interlocutors have clearly exceeded their brief eliciting diverse political viewpoints in the state and placing them before the Govt. of India for a fair follow-up. Dr. Jitendra Singh said that the BJP will never allow the reversal of nomenclature to Sadar-e-Riyasat and Prime Minister, which was changed to Governor and Chief Minister and ratified by Sheikh Abdullah himself when he took over as chief minister in 1975 and constituted D.D. Thakur Committee for the purpose. If the Congress-led UPA government resorts to any misguided adventurism to appease the separatists and separtist friendly political parties in Jammu and Kashmir, the BJP will launch a countrywide stir against it, warned Dr. Jitendra Singh and reminded that there is a Parliament’s unanimous resolution declaring J&K as an integral part of India and thereafter there is no room to accept any proposal that tends to weaken the relationship of Jammu & Kashmir with the rest of India either physically or psychologically.
