| Inter-state Dental Conference opened | | Mangat lays stress for dental health awareness | | Jammu, Dec 1 Minister for Health and Medical Education Mr. Mangat Ram Sharma today inaugurated 2-day Inter-state dental Conference here today. Over hundred delegates from Northern states including reputed dental surgeons of J&K state and outside participated. Minister for Power Mr. Rigzin Jora was also present on the occasion. Welcoming delegates, Sharma said such conferences will help to learn sophisticated new techniques, scientific knowledge and advancement of dental and allied sectors. Mr. Sharma said government has taken steps to encourage and improve the dental care services as the teeth are vital organs in the human body which plays an important role in the process of digestion to keep mind and body healthy. He said government is planning to create posts of dental surgeons in all primary health centres/ allopathic dispensaries of health department. Presenty he said a number of 661 posts of dental surgeons are being filled up in phase manner. The posts of Deputy District Dental Officer will also be considered in all the districts of the state. They will be administratively controlled by the Respective Chief Medical Officers. He said a committee shall be constituted to examine the feasibility of application of norms of dental council of India/ Medical Council of India for promotion in the government dental colleges/ government Medical Colleges of the state. In order to strengthen the existing government dental colleges Srinagar/ Jammu, a total of 319 positions of various categories have been proposed which include 104 posts of faculty including Professors, Assistant Professors, Registrars, Lecturers etc. proposal has been sent to Planning and Development Department, he added. He said the government will also consider the proposal regarding relaxation of age to the dental surgeons for recruitment in the health department as and when posts are advertised. Minister asked the delegates to avail the opportunity of seeing the beautiful eye soothing scenery - pilgrimage of Mata Vaishno Devi, Raghunath Mandir, Purmandal and other heritage spots of Dogra culture. Minister for Power Mr. Rigzin Jora while speaking on the occasion said people in this professions should ensure that they are doing justice and sincerity towards noble cause of service to humanity by rendering best services to the patients. Secretary Health and Medical Education Mr. K. B. Jandial while addressing said that dental care is most essential for over all health care and dental check up be made regular feature for health and added that a healthy body keeps healthy mind. He said dental check up campaign be taken to schools, colleges and private institutions in rural areas which have remain neglected. He said some proposals are already under the active consideration of the government and will take favourable actions to redress the grievances of the dental surgeon fraternity. President Dental Association of India Mr. Rakesh Gupta in his welcome address said that during 2-day dental conference, delegates and dental surgeons will held deliberations, seminars, readout paper and recommend new technique and measures to improve dental fraternity in the state.The conference is sponsored by soft drink major, Hindustan Coca Cola Bewerages Limited.
