ANNA HAZARE’S CRUSADE AGAINST CORRUPTION | | KHUSHWANT S RANIAL | 8/16/2011 11:34:55 PM |
| The second attempt of Anna Hazare to combat and wage a war against corruption has again gained the storm before the sun sets in on 16th of August 2011. In fact .the power in the centre has failed to persuade the demands of Anna ‘s regarding the amendments in drafted Lokpal bill so far produced by the government representatives .According to the Anna ,such a move made by the government is prejudiced and biased and above all not satisfactory to meet the need of the hour. The party in power do not want to lower her guards owing to their own certain limitations and vested interests involved but on the other hand Anna uncle is hell bent to devastate this time to expose the government double edged policy of befooling the public by the single shot. Undoubtedly, one agree with the government in not bringing the acting Prime Minister and the Judiciary in the purview of the Lokpal bill but what about other demands ,sought to be clarified from the government by the general public .Corruption after all is a socioeconomic cultural phenomena. At the heart of it is the growing nd increasing disparity between the haves and haves-not .It reflects the ill distribution of the power in the society-power being a combination ofeducation, money, social and legal rights vis- a –vis the aspirations and ambitions of the people .Corruption has no panacea as it has crept in the mindset of every Indian and now we people have become so accustomed to its permissiveness and permeability in our routine day to day life that it barely affects us . No country or any government in the world can ever claim to be entirely free from its malady. But one thing that we are overlooking by becoming self centric and selfish is the none other sticking to our present period and not thinking about future generation .Although the recent changes to the attitude of our society to the malaise of corruption is heartening one. Letwe collectively strive for excellence so that this corruption do not transcends to the upcoming generation and this is only possible when we awake ,arise and act to stem the existing and spreading rot without second thought .Alone uncle Anna can’t do wonders .He cannot put strength into our dead souls . He can at the most raise our conscious to grow better responsible towards our duties and rights being snatched by few handful crooked elements. Whenever debates are held and discussions made in open general public darbar ,we snub government officials working at the lower rung of the hierarchy .And all forget about big ,fatty hawks who force to indulge in such unfair acts .In fact ,the trio nexus of bureaucrats ,corporate and politico have added to miserable plight of the ground reality .These three pillars of the modern democracy have imbalanced the whole scenario .Corporate feeds the politicians at the time of elections and helps in the formation of the government whereas politicians make amendments in the laws by passing flexible legislations to cover the hidden agenda of the corporate at the cost of living of the common man .Further to add to the irony ,the most of Indian politicians do not stand tall in terms of their character and stature in their real life. Only money speaks on their behalf which chokes the voice of even an honest, dedicated and devoted person .Thus for their personal survival due to individual shortcomings an over reliance upon the bureaucrats does more harm than good to the governance .The bureaucratic class indulge more in the red-tapism deliberately forcing needy one to resort to malpractices .The corruptions breeds from this level because there is no check at all at this level .Those who are supposed to hold the stick to let the system obtain linearity instead themselves lead to derail the scenario .The woes of the common man is growing unabated. Inflationary trend has not been observing any check Undoubtedly ,the growth of the inflation is generally related to the price hike of the fuel prices across the globe owing to the involvement of the export /import through the transportation but black marketing for the gaining more lucrative profits cannot be denied as well .Despite bumper crops of eatables ,there is always an excuse to be told about the scarcity of things because the black hoarders have let the loose the reign of acquisition without any fear of accountability and law. Anna uncle cannot fight all alone at this level as well .Rather we have to become extra vigilant in tackling these issues at the street ,town ,city levels by organising the committees to carve the means to deal with the issues more seriously .We can well imagine the potency level of our leaders who have not been able to muster courage to hang one Afzal Guru ,the lone master mind behind 2001,parliament attack and Azmal Kasab , a foreign national who escaped during the Mumbai’s Hotel Taj attack a couple of years ago despite courts given verdict to hang them till death. The most shocking thing to bear with is that Englishmen left this country gave us freedom from the clutches of their slavery but not from the clutches of the traitors living within us. Indian leaders are sycophants in nature and chameleon in outlook .They talk high but indulge in low actions .Their speech is louder than their acts. They have divided India in the name of reservations to feed their bellies .The foreigners divided great India into two parts but these myopic leaders have further sub divided the whole nation into many segments .There seems no harmony and strong bondage in real terms prevailing anywhere in the day to day life. In short Corruption has gone so deep rooted in the Indian social milieu that its containment cannot be expected in an overnight .Even the small countries like Indonesia,Hongkong,Singapore took years to overhaul the rotten set up to get rid of its clutches to see an effective transformation . So likewise here too it seeks struggle from all the components of our state and society to fight it together without any second thought or confrontation.
