| 12 member Board of Management constituted for JAKFED | | | Jammu, Dec 1 Minister for Agriculture and Cooperatives Mr. Abdul Aziz Zargar has called for making JAKFED and other public sector units vibrant and viable organizations to boost the economic activities and generate ample job opportunities keeping in view the needs of the people and the competitive market trends. The Minister was presiding over a function organized by the JAKFED to felicitate S. Rangil Singh Ex-Minister who took over as the Chairman of the 12 Member Board of Management constituted for JAKFED. Mr. Zargar said that the human and capital resources of JAKFED need to be fully utilized to make the organization pro-people, customer friendly and profitable. He said that people of the state especially farmers and small traders are considering JAKFED as a trust worthy trading organization for providing essential items like fertilizers, cement, building material, dietary and nutrition material, gani bags and LPG. He asked the management of JAKFED to expand its area of operation and strengthen the existing units involved in the procurement and distribution of commodities. He said that with the adverse situations in the past the organization was subjected to economic inertia but due to concerted efforts of the present government, it has been rejuvenated and strengthened by providing the budgetary support. Referring to the achievements of JAKFED Mr. Zargar said that the organization has distributed 12530 metric tonnes of fertilizers to the farmers and orchadists during the Kharif period of current financial year while as 558177 bags of cement costing Rs. 9.45 crore have been provided to the customers of the state during the year 2006.He said that during the current year 319349 LPG cylinders worth Rs. 8.85 crore have been provided to the consumers as against 303386 cylinders during the previous year. He said that the organization has registered an over all increase of 25 percent in its annual turn over. Mr.Zargar said that with the taking over of S.Rangil Singh as the Chairman of the Board of Management, the JAKFED would witness tremendous boost in its activities and under his dynamic command the organization would explore new areas of activities under diversification programme. He hoped that the experiences and guidance of S. Rangil Singh would prove more useful for making the organization more resourceful and people friendly. S.Rangil Singh in his address said that it would be his utmost endeavour to make JAKFED a self reliant organization and earn the trust of the people. He said that the organization would be restructured to achieve the maximum targets and make it more profitable. He said JAKFED being one of the primary public sector units in the state demands a good budgetary support from the government to improve its working and switch over to other commercial activities. He said that assets lying with the organization would be commercialized to make them remunerative for earning more profits and enhancing the turnover. Managing Director JAKFED Mirza Muzaffar and Registrar Cooperatives Mr. G.N.Qasba also spoke on the occasion and highlighted the achievements of JAKFED. Legislators, Mrs. Shanti Devi, Mr.Ved Mahajan and management and staff of the JAKFED were present on the occasion. Mr. Daman Bhasin and Romesh Motton also attended the function.
