50th ‘tree talk’ held in Rajouri | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Srinagar, Aug 17 (KNS): 50th series of popular forest and environment awareness programme ‘tree talk’ was held in Rajouri on Wednesday. The progamme launched in Jammu & Kashmir on 19 December, 2010 has eight month long history and made visible impact on the masses at the grass root level. It is the first environmental awareness programme which has reached beyond the confines of cities and towns and many episodes stands organized inside forests and villages where no other programme could ever reached. ‘Tree talk’ is a platform where not only forest and environmental experts and subject specialists come together but villagers, poets, historians, folk healers, students, teachers also share their ideas and explore their roles in contributing towards betterment of environment. The show which saw its birth in Jammu University in winter, celebrated its silver jubilee in Emporium Garden Srinagar and for Golden jubilee celebration venue was chosen as Nowshera forest in Rajouri where over 100 participants comprising of academicians, administrators, forest and police officers, school and college principals, teachers and students, participated in three hour long discussion which focused on strategies to achieve better management of forests, wildlife and environment to have sustainable agriculture, horticulture and fisheries.
