1 killed, 11 other injured as matador turns turtle

KISHTWAR, Aug 17:
One person was killed while eleven other got injured, two of them seriously when a matador met with an accident near Darbie Padyarna some 25 kms from Kishtwar on Kishtwar-Padder road.

According to police sources, the ill-fated vehicle bearing Registration No JK06-0993 driven by the conductor met with an accident at around 8:45 am at Darbie Padyarna, when the conductor of the matador, who was driving the vehicle lost his control over the vehicle, as a result of which the vehicle turned turtle and fell from a hillock.

Fortunately the vehicle escaped the deep gorge thus a major tragedy was averted, they added.

After receiving the information about the accident, Kishtwar police headed by SHO Kishtwar Mohammad Arif along with members of civil society rushed to the spot where they with the help of local people recovered dead body of Fatima Begum wife of Shamsdin Butt resident of Padyarna Kishtwar from site of accident and shifted 11 other injured persons to District hospital Kishtwar, where they were presently undergoing treatment. As per the Chief Medical Officer Kishtwar Dr Ajay Gupta, the condition of all the injured persons is stable. The injured were identified as Asiya Banoo (10 Yrs) D/O Shamsdin Butt R/O Padyarna, Rukmani Devi (55 Yrs)W/O Mohan Lal R/O Ohilie Padyarna, Ashwani Sharma (24 Yrs) S/O Chuni Lal R/O Pullar, Baij Nath (52 Yrs) S/O Lachu Ram R/O Padyarna, Kewal Krishan (28 Yrs)

S/O Fajji Ram R/O Padyarna, Sajjad Hussain (45 Yrs) S/O Dilawar Sheikh R/O Dool, Raziya Begum (42 Yrs) W/O Sajjad Hussain R/O Dool, Naziya Banoo (18 Yrs) D/O Shamsdin R/O Padyarna, Ameeta Devi (26 Yrs) W/O Kewal Krishan R/O Padyarna, Jagdish Raj S/O Ram Nath R/O Battan Padyarna and Daljeet Sharma (18 Yrs) S/O Chuni Lal R/O Padyarna.

Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar Mohammad Hussain Malik also visited the District Hospital Kishtwar and inquired about the well being of the injured persons. He announced the financial help of Rs. 2000 for each injured and Rs. 10000 for the deceased. He also directed the police to take stringent action against the conductor of the matador, who was driving the vehicle at the time of the accident and also against the owner of the vehicle for showing his negligence while allowing the inexperienced conductor to drive the vehicle. The conductor reportedly fled from the spot after the accident.
